It’s been another bumpy week for the BPU as they try to continue to point the finger in any direction but their own when it comes to the coming rate hikes.
This week, responses came from both PJM directly and then their own board members questioning not only decisions the board has made, but the process by which they have done them. First, PJM pointed to the generation and energy choices made by the Murphy administration:
And as Politico said, Commissioner Christodoulou that because of “the way decisions are made” at the BPU, it is hard to have confidence in the board’s decisions and questioned whether the board was helping New Jersey ratepayers. Here is more from the commissioner, who was pretty clear about his concerns:
Very little good comes from group think and hoping for outcomes doesn’t mean they will actually happen. So despite the need for more energy of any kind, the BPU voted for an extension for Attentive Wind farm payments admitting we won’t have offshore wind anytime soon and leading to this headline in the Press of AC.
So to recap. Lots of outrage. No action to actually help the problem. Seems like Groundhog Day.
If you have questions like we do, you stil have a chance to tell the BPU what you think. Public comments are being accepted until May 1st and you can submit yours here.
