Lately in Trenton, we’ve seen a good amount of political theater coming from our government. Whether it’s the Governor’s Office, the BPU or Legislators themselves. Either it’s legislating by press release, grandstanding and posturing at hearings or taking the fight to people on social media assuming they won’t know the real facts, they are still ignoring the fundamental problem that we identified in the last email we sent – it’s the supply, stupid.
Instead, we get solutions offered like bring your own energy if you want to locate here. So how’s that going to work, we tell everyone we are the leader in AI and then tell them to find their own way to plug in to make it work? Just think about how ridiculous and not friendly to business telling them not only do they need to deal with the costs and drawn out processes of locating here, now they are going to need to figure out how to power it themselves. How nice.
This is lunacy. Trenton is admitting that can’t solve the problem, so we are telling business who want to open here to do it themselves? What is this, some night out on the town where a restaurant tells the patrons they are a BYOB if they want a drink? Oh and isn’t it cute that they are making companies use renewable energy sources that can’t even meet the current demand. This is no way to run a government or institute a long lasting, sustainable, reliable and affordable energy policy.
The solution that nobody in Trenton wants to talk about is simple, so we will spell it out real clear:
- Provide short term rate relief for consumers using existing funds
- Roll back the unmeetable mandates that increase demand – EVs, building electrification, all of it until we have a solution.
- Expedite the permitting and building of new generation, specifically natural gas.
If you’re not including these solutions in what your saying, you need to look in the mirror to see who is really doing the grandstanding.
