It was another week in New Jersey where leaders and elected officials continued to try to play the blame game instead of doing their job by taking any actions to help the people who are getting hit with higher energy bills.
Since there is alot of rewriting history and misinformation out there, we decided to go back and do some basic math for everyone. Because that is where the problem still lies no matter how many talking points try to ignore it:
That’s right, we don’t produce enough energy in state, so we are dependent on others. That was a choice made by this BPU and Governor. So people can bash PJM all they want for speed and bureaucracy, but the math just doesn’t add up.
We’d love to see everything move faster too, but if we continue to deal in facts, one needs to acknowledge that there are only few items even in the PJM que waiting for approval. In fact, if all were approved and working they would bring just an additional 14 kw, twelve of which are supposed to come from wind projects that don’t currently exist and won’t for years to come. So even if PJM moves faster to approve, there isn’t wind for them to plug into the grid and we don’t have other options because of the stubborness of the BPU and elected officials.
At some point, people are going to bring facts back into the conversation in order for us to see anything actually change. Until then, we will continue to be a broken record and let people know that New Jersey needs more base load in state energy, because otherwise the math will continue to not add up.
