For years, Affordable Energy For New Jersey has talked relentlessly about the need for more energy supply to meet increasing demand. We did so even as this administration tried to put out an energy master plan that actually argued that demand would go down.
So you can imagine our surprise after the latest PJM auction that will raise energy prices once again to see the Governor pounding his fist about the need for more energy:
While what he is saying is true, talk about the wrong messengers for a message. A statement like that from this Governor takes some nerve seeing as how he has been one of the Governors in charge that could have helped provide more supply to avoid these problems. Maybe he forgets but we had more energy.
Instead, our Governor has spent years tilting at windmills and wasting state resources on projects that would never be built while closing down existing sources of energy. He did this because those energy sources didn’t align with his idea ideological opinions, not because it was smart policy. Don’t take our word for it, remember the former head of the Sierra Club who described it this way:
That part of the story was missing from the Governor’s continued attempts to point the finger at everyone else but his own administration.
So maybe the next administration can start over and try that again, because we need a change in direction that doesn’t leave us once again facing shortages of supply, increases of demand and skyrocketing costs. Affordable Energy For New Jersey looks forward to working to help make that happen.
