We wish this were an April Fool’s joke, but unfortunately it’s not.

Members of the Joint Congressional Economic Committee released state-by-state figures from monthly utility bill data that paints a very dark picture.

The report showed showed that on average, American households paid roughly $110, or 6.4%, more for electricity in 2025, compared to 2024.

As you can see from the chart, here in New Jersey we saw a near 17% increased in our electricity costs last year which is the 2nd highest behind only the District of Columbia. And our increase is 10% more than the national average.

It would be one thing to just be dealing with this increase and a little pain for short term gain. But there is absolutely no end in sight to the rising rates we are facing. And that is directly because of the policy decisions that our leaders have continued to make, which is why our increases are even outpacing the increases of others by so much.

We may sound like a broken record, but we really don’t care because until we start producing more base load energy, all that is going on is politicians are talking. Unfortunately you can’t pay your utility bill with their words.
